I have not skied before, how do I learn?
If you would like to have a go at skiing, but don’t really know where to start, then contact one of the people on the contacts page. They will be able to arrange for you to come along and have a go. It will normally be on a Wednesday evening in the Summer. They will be able to tell you what to expect and what to bring with you.
In all cases, the club relies on membership fees, but we realise that we won’t get new members unless we invite people to try skiing. It is for this reason that we allow people five skiing visits to the club before we insist on them becoming a member. By this time, we expect you to have decided that you like it, and want to continue.
What will it cost to learn?
Running a boat is not a cheap past-time and to keep boat owners willing to use their equipment to teach visitors, they need their costs covered. So each time you ski behind a boat, the owner receives running costs of £15.
Now, non-members are allowed five visits to the club before we require them to join. In the past, we had several people skiing for five times, who then said ‘Well it’s half way through the season now so it’s not worth me joining’. To combat this problem, we charge visitors £10 each visit, £5 of which goes towards their membership if they join, so after 5 visits, you have already paid £25 towards your membership.
That means that a visit will cost you £25 per visit for one ski. If you are lucky enough to have time and energy for another go on the same evening, then you will need to pay another £15, which will cover the boat costs.
